About Fly Fishing In Colorado On The Private Waters At Santa Maria Ranch

It was back in 1874 that Harry Epperson established the Santa Maria Ranch as a homestead where livestock and hay was produced. Today, you'll still find the main ranch house and a variety of 19th-Century structures on the property. The Ranch has been designated a National Historic District and includes a warm spring along with rare wetland plants that are hard to find throughout the world. This land is now protected by a conservation easement held by Colorado Open Lands to ensure pristine open space, habitat, water resources, and historic structures. An additional conservation easement is funded by Great Outdoors Colorado to further protect wetlands and riparian habitat on the ranch.

When you visit the Santa Maria Fly Fishing Ranch in Park County, Colorado, you'll want to pack for a day away from it all. Things like drinking water and flush toilets are found a few miles down the road in the town of Hartsel, CO. There is, however, an outhouse on the ranch that's available to anglers.
